The Southwest Chronic Disease Support Group Inc. held their first ever Spirit of the Season Fundraiser leading up to the Parade of Lights in Shaunavon.

The Fundraiser featured fully decorated Christmas trees and holiday ornaments donated by local people and businesses that residents could bid on through the weeks leading up to the Parade of Lights on December 7th.

Patty Wright is one of the Directors of the Southwest Chronic Disease Support Group Board. She says, "We actually had no much fun with this Fundraiser. We had a group of three committee members that put a few of the pieces together and then some of the local businesses donated theirs. All of the pieces were beautiful. We were really happy we decided not to go with straight trees. We did a variety of things which I think gave an option for lots of people for decorating for Christmas."

Winners were announced following the Parade of Lights and Wright says a total of $3,836.00 was raised.

All money raised at the Spirit of the Season Fundraiser will go towards southwest area residents that need assistance with travel, accommodation and meal expenses while traveling for medical reasons.

Applications for assistance are available now from Southwest Chronic Disease Support Group Directors.
