The third quarter of 2016 saw Saskatchewan experience continued population growth.

Stats Canada's latest quarterly population estimate pegs the prairie province at over 1.15 million people - 1,155,393 to be exact.

On October 1st, the end of the third quarter, the province saw a spike of 4,761 people from the halfway mark of 2016.

When compared to the end of 2015's third quarter, the population has seen a comfortable five-figure increase of 18,007.

Steady growth has occurred in the province in the past decade. In fact, between 2006-2016 Saskatchewan has had the largest population increase in 84 years.

162,000 new residents have called the province home in the last ten years - the most since between 1922-1932.

Saskatchewan's Economy Minister was pleased with the results, saying it proves the province is a great place to live and work, due to investment opportunities and a resilient economy.
