Residents of the southwest can expect to see storms a little earlier than normal.

That according to storm chaser Craig Hilts. He said that with severe storms in and around Moose Jaw and Estevan earlier this month storm season might be arriving early.

"My feeling is we are having a season that is a lot earlier than normal," he said. "When I look at my 12 years of chasing, usually around this time of year I'm chasing in Nebraska, not in Saskatchewan. Our season doesn't;t really get ramped up until late-June, early-July. This year has been a very bizarre year for weather so everything seems to be about two weeks early."

Hilts said that serve weather wise it could mean a quieter summer.

"What that means for our serve weather, it could mean that July might be quieter," he said. It also could mean that our moisture kind of drys up in mid-July versus typically in August. Severe weather wise maybe not necessarily more intense just strangely different time of year then we are typically used to."

Hilts added that the all of his predictions could change due to the unpredictability of Mother Nature.
