Swift Current held their City Wide Registration Wednesday, and a lot of people in the community took part.

The City's Recreation/Scheduling Superintendent Nicole Spenst said while they don't have a number for the amount of people that came through the Stockade doors at Kinetic Park, it was a busy one.

"We had over 29 organizations take part, and we had a variety of community members filter through throughout the night. It's really exciting to see that culture, recreation, and sport and parks are a focus and an interest in our community."

It was the 23rd City Wide Registration, and Spenst said that from when she became involved 15 years ago, they've nearly tripled in the amount of organizations involved, going from 10 to 29.

What with the advent of online registration, the event was just the one night.

"We found it was very feasible for families because they weren't going one night to register for soccer, the next night lacrosse, the next night baseball and softball," Spenst explained. "It was an opportunity for community members to come out, see what the community has to offer, filter through all the dates and times that work for their family scheduling, and find something that's going to meet the need and desire of every age group in the family, whether they be little; whether they be senior."

Spenst added that the event helps them get feedback for what people in the community are looking for out of non-profit organizations in terms of sport, culture, green-space park opportunities, and recreation.
