So much of the Salvation Army's ability to help those in need is fueled by Hutterites, and on Tuesday the Salvation Army had a chicken lunch for Hutterites.

Over 100 made it out for the lunch, which is put on annually by the Salvation Army as a way of saying thanks for bringing in a collosal amount of food.

Sandra Brong is community and family-services coordinator with the Salvation Army, and said the Hutterites have put them in a good position to pass along hampers to others - especially now that it's the Christmas season.

Major Don Grad of the Salvation Army was excited during the lunch when the crowd got to be over 100 for the complimentary lunch.

There were french fries with the chicken (and other sides), but the hampers the Salvation Army gives out have lots of vegetables and healthy food, along with a few treats.

It's not just the Salvation Army that Hutterite colonies help out with. Back in October when wildfires caused Burstall to be evacuated, the emergency team that stayed in the town was given a ton of nutrition, in a move that was far from uncharacteristic.
