The city extends their bus pass partnership

The City of Swift Current has extended a partnership with the Ministry of Social Services for their subsidized bus pass program.

The program has allowed eligible residents to receive monthly bus passes at a discounted rate of $15.

Engineering Director Mac Forster believes the program has had good uptake since it first started in 2008.

“There's been close to 800 individuals in our community who have qualified for subsidized bus passes through the Ministry of Social Services, " Forster said. "I believe last year 175 of those sold."

"I anticipate another agreement forthcoming but it represents about six months. The Ministry grants the City a total of six thousand dollars to go toward our subsidized bus pass.”
