The Salvation Army's annual holiday campaign has wrapped again for another season, with the community stepping up again in big fashion.

$145,000 was donated this year through the annual kettle campaign, which Captain Michael Ramsay says was short of their goal of $170,000, but will still go a long way towards helping people in need in the community.

In addition to 293 Christmas hampers were filled, going out to local families in need. Captain Ramsay says with Swift Current on the grow, the demand for their services has also increased: "It's interesting, because we've seen quite a consistent growth, particulary over the last year, in demand for the food bank and the myriad of other services we provide here."

The encouraging figure, though, Captain Ramsay says the number of repeated use at the Salvation Army has gone down in recent months.
