A beautiful long weekend definitely represents summertime in Saskatchewan, but it also means more traffic on our roadways.

Christine Niemczyk with CAA said there are some tips to safe driving in the summer, including one you might not think of.

"You need to have an emergency kit and weather it is summer or winter it is important to have one with you. Make sure it has got your flash light, booster cables, even a tire puncture sealant or first aid kit, flares, drinking water, granola bars, anything extra you think you might need in case you find yourself stranded and waiting for help to arrive."

Niemczyk also noted that speed is is a concern especially when passing emergancy vehicles and going throught construction zones.

Niemczyk wanted to remind everyone to that tow trucks helping vehicles on the side of the road do fall under the emergency vehicle speed limits as well.
