The Shaunavon Alliance Church Youth Group held a very successful community food drive in Shaunavon this past Thursday.

The group, with help from the Shaunavon Fire Department and students from Rock Solid Refuge, canvassed the entire town collecting donations for the local Food Bank.

Nancy Phillips is the leader of the Shaunavon Allliance Church Youth Group. She says they collected 1,960 pounds of non-perishable food items, with more still coming in, and about $128.00 in cash donations.

She adds, "Just, thank you to our community for standing behind the Food Bank and the Youth Group kids and the Fire Fighters. It was just a blessing to see everybody come together for such a great cause."

Phillips says that this amount is triple the amount of the largest donation the Shaunavon Food Bank has received.
