"Mama's Cloud" is a children's book published by a first time Swift Current author that helps kids understand mental health issues.

Jessica Williams has been a Swift Current resident for the past eleven years, and says it was her own personal experience that led her to write the story. "As somebody who suffered from post partum depression myself and anxiety it seemed like a good analogy for what it can feel like to be suffering from mental illness."

It's the story of a young child trying to make sense of mental illness and creates ways to banish the cloud over its mother. When the child realizes that these plans won't work though, they are encouraged to simply offer love and a hug to Mama until she is able to conquer her cloud herself.

The Canadian Mental Health Association estimates that one in five people in Canada will personally experience a mental health problem or illness.

"Mama's Cloud" is available in Swift Current at Bubble Tree Consignment and Pharmasave.
