It was a strong showing for Swift Current's Eliminators Car Club in the province's capital over the weekend at the 53rd Annual Majestics Car Show.

Eight members from the local car club entered a vehicle in the Regina show and six of them walked away with awards.

Dustin Vipond, a member of the Eliminators Car Club, said the showing by some of the Swift Current cars was impressive given the steep competition.

"It shows kind of the calibre of local cars that we have here," he said. "There was some amazing cars at that show too, so to bring home that many awards, out of how many cars were brought there was really great."

Dwayne Fortney collected the most accolades of anyone from the Swift Current club winning first place in the Hot Rod Class, Best Engineered Street Rod, Best Street Rod Open, and Best Attention to Detail.

"Dwayne Fortney winning the Best Attention to Detail, Best Street Rod, I mean he won all the top awards, that's kind of the premier class for sure," Vipond said.

Ron Schultz also picked up three awards in his 'Boss eh Nova race car', winning the Best Competition Vehicle, Best Competition Engine, and the Best in Drag Class. David Knittle won Best Light Commercial Vehicle, with his 1973 El Camino. Hayley Vipond won Best Junior Dragster, and Rayce Schultz won second place Junior Dragster.

Next car show up for the Eliminators Car Club is the Draggins Rod & Custom Car Club Car Show on Easter weekend in Saskatoon.
