A pair of Saskatchewan Construction Safety Association (SCSA) trophies are headed to southwestern Saskatchewan.

The Swift Current Regional Safety Committee (RSC) recently won the SCSA's 2018 RSC Distinguished Progress Award, and Silverline Construction of Swift Current was named a finalist for the 2018 Corporate Leadership in Safety Award.

Bobbi Legere, the chairperson of the Swift Current RSC and the office administrator with Silverline Construction, said both the company and organization were ecstatic to receive some form of recognition.

"When we first took over at the regional level here, our attendance level was like three and four people and now we're 10 to 12," she said. "We're very excited about how much it's grown and how much it's starting to get out there.

"We've worked really hard on our safety program - Silverline was the first company to be COR certified in Swift Current. So it was really exciting to get some sort of acknowledgement for the hard work we've put into it."

The award winners were selected by the SCSA board and revealed on March 21 at their Annual General Meeting held at the Travelodge Hotel in Saskatoon.

"Like I said it's just an honour and very exciting that we're being acknowledged," Legere said. "This is all of Saskatchewan right, so for Swift Current to have gotten two awards is pretty amazing."

Asiil Enterprises of Prince Albert beat out Silverline Construction for the 2018 Corporate Leadership in Safety Award, while the Swift Current RSC edged out Regina RSC and Prince Albert RSC for the award.
