A prominent Swift Current resident has been inducted to the Order of Red Cross.

The announcement was made Thursday night in Regina at the Red Cross Gala, that Tami Wall would be the 296th member to join the Order of Red Cross.

"I just feel very honoured," she told Swift Current Online. "It's been a team effort, I guess I've been leading the team but it's just quite an honour and I was very overwhelmed and humbled, it was very cool."

Wall has been on the executive cabinet for the Red Cross for five years now and will serve as the chair this year.

"So being part of that team to go forward and raise over $2 million in the last five years for the Red Cross that wasn't there before is quite an accomplishment," she said. "It's a team effort, but I was able to supply some ideas and leadership in that way... And I just have a passion for that and these type of programs and I think they're needed."

The Canadian Red Cross noted in a release that Tami's "Humanitarianism and professional expertise have provided leadership and significant fundraising to the organization in Saskatchewan."
