The SARCAN depot in Swift Current has been honoured for their work keeping the place looking spick and span.

Last week during a banquet during the organization's leadership training in Regina, the Swift Current location won the 2019 Customer Service Award for cleanliness in the category of extra-large depots.

"It felt really great," said Matthew Haubrich, who is the superviser in Swift Current. "Everybody pulled together; helped keep the depot nice and clean, and it really shows with the award."

Haubrich was in Regina with Assistant Supervisor Sandi Nordin.

On random days mystery shoppers visit all the 72 SARCAN recycling depots, and grade them on cleanliness, accuracy, and customer service.

Haubrich gave credit to the staff for their accomplishment.

"[Cleanliness] is very important for both our staff and the customers. It shows that everybody cares about how our depot looks on a day-to-day basis."

"Our teams across Saskatchewan work hard to put customers first," said SARCAN's director of collections, Sean Collins. “These awards are an excellent way for us to recognize and celebrate all of the hard work our depots do every year towards creating a welcoming, clean, and friendly environment for our customers.”

As warmer temperatures hit, Haubrich said they're looking to keep doing well with increased busyness around their spot on Cheadle Street West.

"Business is picking up with the nicer weather we've been having, and hopefully with our new secret shopper that will be coming out shortly, hopefully we'll get another award for next year."
