Hundreds of personal tax files were accessed due to the bug but the breach into the CRA's system was contained quickly according to Randy Westerman. They've address the situation and say that everything is safe again.

However, the problems forced them to shutdown their site for several days and as a result, Westerman says their extending the deadline. "The filing deadline in all years is April 30th at midnight but this year because of the computer problems, the filing deadline had been extended to May 5th at midnight."

Westerman is encouraging everyone to file online, he says it's very easy and safe.
