It was one of the warmest winter months in Swift Current's history.

The latest stats are now in and show that January 2012 was the 17th warmest on record in 126 years, as we sat at an average temperature of -7.5 celsius. That temperature is well above normal for this time of year as the thermometer normally sits closer to the -13 mark.

And with a streak of 37 consecutive days of above average temperatures dating back to December, the month got off to a great start as well. The beginning of the month was the 3rd warmest start to January ever recorded

Precipitation wise, it wasn't a dry month either. 11.5 mm of moisture was recorded in Swift Current putting us on average for this time of year, ranking the last 4 weeks as the 42nd dryest January in the stat books.

The 5-day forecast showing a warm start to open up February as well, calling for highs above the freezing mark for most of the remainder of the week and nearing the double digits for the weekend.
