Despite the warnings, we see it every day at stop lights and on the streets of Swift Current.  Drivers looking at their phones and not the road.  It's a reality that is concerning to Saskatchewan residents.

CAA polled 2000 people on the prairies in November, and the results showed that the number one concern we have behind the wheel is other drivers texting and driving.

An eye-opening 94% said they are worried about their safety on the road because of texting and driving, and 84% think the problem is worse now than it was three years ago.

The poll comes when distracted driving numbers are at an all-time high.

Tyler McMurchy of SGI says, "the (November) numbers show the absolute highest number of offences we have ever recorded through our traffic safety spotlights," he said. "That tells us that a lot of people are making the very poor decision to hold, manipulate, or use their cellphone while driving."

Fines for distracted driving start at $280.
