The Vancouver Fringe Festival was held September 6-16 and Shaunavon author/director Dianne Greenlay and her play were chosen as one of the main stage participants.

Dianne, and her play "The Camping Guy" joined roughly a couple hundred performances, between the main stage and the stand up and improv performances that were held at various other locations.

There were about 24 main stage performances at The Fringe.

Greenlay explains "The Camping Guy". "It's sort of reminiscent of television and theaters' Odd Couple where there is Earl, whose the experienced woodsman, and Johnson, who is a very inept city slicker client. And they try to spend a camping weekend together in the wilds of The Rockies. So, what was intended to be a de-stressing weekend ends up being a distressing one because these two are badly mismatched."

Greenlay says that a big part of the excitement of having a play at The Fringe was the fact that her son, Michael, played  one of the characters.

The Camping Guy enjoyed some sold out performances and Greenlay says it would be great to go back and perform there again sometime.
