In the May 31 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 113 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 113 new cases there are 6 in the Far North West zone, 10 in the North West zone, 9 in the North Central zone, 1 in the North East zone, 24 in the Saskatoon zone, 8 in the Central East zone, 24 in the Regina zone, 15 in the South Central zone, and 9 in the South East zone.

There are 5 new cases in the South West zone - 1 in the South West subzone 1, and 4 in the South West subzone 2.

There are 2 new cases with pending residence information.

Two cases with pending residence information have been assigned to the North Central zone.

That brings the provincial total number of cases to 46,748, of which 1,368 are considered active.

There are 43 active cases in the South West zone - 15 in the South West subzone 1, and 28 in the South West subzone 2.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases is 138 (11.3 cases per 100,000 population).

There are 174 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 44,841.

There is 1 new death reported in t he 80+ age group from the Saskatoon zone.

That brings the provincial total number of deaths to 539.

There are 108 people in the hospital. This is the lowest total in hospital since November 28, 2020.

There are 83 people receiving inpatient care - 5 in the North West zone, 5 in the North Central zone, 2 in the North East zone, 32 in the Saskatoon zone, 3 in the Central East zone, 32 in the Regina zone, 1 in the South Central zone, and 1 in the South East zone.

There are 2 people receiving inpatient care in the South West zone.

There are 25 people in intensive care - 1 in the North West zone, 4 in the North Central zone, 11 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central East zone, and 8 in the Regina zone.

To date, 861,286 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan.

And  yesterday, there were 1,748 COVID-19 tests processed.

As of May 30, there were a total of 10,732 variants of concern cases identified by screening in the province - 243 in the Far North West zone, 46 in the Far North East zone, 607 in the North West zone, 471 in the North Central zone, 58 in the North East zone, 1,695 in the Saskatoon zone, 109 in the Central West zone, 594 in the Central East zone, 4,646 in the Regina zone, 750 in the South Central zone, and 1,074 in the South East zone.

There are a total of 373 variants of concern cases in the South West zone.

There are 66 screened variants of concern cases with residence pending.

There are no new lineage results reported.

Of the 5,713 variants of concern cases with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing, 5,529 are B.1.1.1.7(UK), 144 are P.1 (Brazilian), 30 are B.1.617 (Indian), and 10 are B.1.351(SA).

An additional 8,039 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in the province, bringing the total number of vaccines administered to 725,648.

Of those 8,039 vaccine doses given 183 were administered in the South West zone.

Seventy-seven percent of those over the age of 40, 71% of those over 30, and 66% of those over 18 have received their first vaccine dose.

Second dose vaccinations are  open to residents 70 and over or anyone who received their first dose before March 15, 2021. Individuals diagnosed with, or being treat for, cancer and those that have received solid organ transplants will receive a letter of eligibility in the mail that will allow them priority access to a second dose.

Effective immediately, all residents 50 and over  in the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District are eligible to receive their second vaccine dose. They can receive their second dose as soon as permitted by the product monograph for the vaccine type they received. For Moderna, this is 28 days from the first dose, and for Pfizer 21 days from the first dose.
