The city of Swift Current will be hosting the Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds air show today at the Swift Current Airport.

This will be the first time the Moose Jaw-based Canadian Forces Snowbirds have been in Swift Current since the early 1990’s.

Blake McNaughton, the Advance & Safety Pilot for Snowbird #10, is delighted to be in Swift Current.

“It’s awesome to be here, the Snowbirds haven’t been in Swift Current for awhile. We are just down the Trans-Canada highway (in Moose Jaw), we fly over here all the time. It’s fantastic to finally be putting the wheels down and visiting with the great people of Swift Current,” McNaughton said.

The pilot has been flying with the Canadian Forces for approximately ten years now, with this season being his first with the Snowbirds.

McNaughton didn’t want to reveal too much of the performance you can expect to see but did give us a sneak preview.

“I can’t describe it on the radio you have to come out and see it, but are going to be looping, rolling, (with) nine planes and large formations. We are going to do dynamic solo crosses, and put that (together) with narration and music, it’s going to blow your mind,” he said.

The gates open at 2 p.m. this afternoon with the show getting underway at approximately 4:30 p.m.
