Three community donations were handed out by MNP last night at Fall/Winter City Wide Registration.

The funds, totalling $22,000, were raised this past summer at the MNP Bronco Alumni Golf Classic and were given out to three local organizations.

Two $10,000 cheques were presented - one to Safe Places and the other to the Bronco Education Fund - while the remaining $2,000 was gifted to Swift Current - Kidsport.

"We're just so thankful," Swift Current Mayor Denis Perrault said. "Safe Places has no funding, no funding model really, but what this money does is it helps charities and charitable entities become Safe Places accredited. Thank you to Jeremy Rondeau, his partner group and the staff at Meyers Norris Penny (MNP) for being a partner in this."

The initiative started over a year ago and reached 1,000 individuals certified in early July. Adding to the growth of Safe Places, the Town of Gull Lake joined in mid-August as the only other community outside of Swift Current to implement the program.

"We thought it was a great idea for us to help promote and help educate the community on the benefits of the program and to continue it on," Jeremy Rondeau, a partner at MNP said. "Without funding that program may not be in existence and for a small town like Swift Current to have over 1,000 people certified, that's huge."

MNP has over 50 employees Safe Places certified accounting for approximately 5 per cent of all certified individuals.
