Last Saturday people from around the province raised even more funds for Wedrick family.

On October 17, Ron and Evan Wedrick (father and son, respectively) were severely burned in a fire near Tompkins. They're now in a hospital in Calgary, and a GoFundMe page, as well as multiple fundraisers, have combined to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars.

After a few days of counting up the donations, Ruth Magee - a family friend of the Wedricks and the event coordinator for the fundraiser in Tompkins - said that they raised over $180,000, with donations still coming in over the phone lines.

Magee said that it's pretty overwhelming to see the amount of money they raised.

"I just feel that it's just wonderful," she said. "When I told Twila [Ron's Wife] I just told her to feel the love because the community stands behind them so much, and not just them but Evan and Kim and their entire family because they are so generous and it's just coming back to them."

Magee added that in the long-haul the money is going to go a long way because they are going to be dealing with a lot.
