As construction continues on the Chinook Power Station just west of Swift Current toward a goal of completion in October, so does work setting up power lines to run from there to Pasqua.

SaskPower announced there will be traffic delays throughout the week on Highway 2 north of Moose Jaw. There will be reduced speed limits of 60 kilometres an hour and some traffic stoppages to allow a helicopter to string lines across the highway.

From January 15 to February 5, weather permitting, speed reductions are expected on Highway 1 just west of Rush Lake. Traffic stoppages are planned for January 19-21.

There are also short and temporary delays expected near Chaplin and Moose Jaw early in 2019.

The power station's construction began in spring, 2017. It is expected to provide enough electricity to power 350,000 homes.
