The holiday season is officially underway in downtown Swift Current, following the lighting of the Christmas tree

 

A very successful night yesterday for the annual lighting of Swift Current's Christmas tree.

The evening started off with greetings from the Downtown Business Association and Mayor Jerrod Schafer, followed by the turning on of the lights and the arrival of the guests of honour, Santa and Mrs. Claus.

One of the largest crowds in recent memory made it's way to Market Square, helped in part with temperatures hovering just below the freezing mark. When all was said and done, organizers called it a success.
