There were three significant criminal matters in Swift Current Provincial Court yesterday, but decisions for all three will have to wait.

John Flottvik pleaded guilty to a bunch of charges, including sexual assault, assault, and drunk driving back on Wednesday.

The Crown and defence presented their cases yesterday in court, as there isn't a joint submissions and the two sides differ in what they're looking for as a sentence by a fair bit.

Flottvik's defence lawyer, Adrian McBride, is looking for two years in federal prison plus three years probation, noting two years is the longest sentence that can be followed by a probation period.

Crown Attorney Curtis Wiebe is looking for at least five years.

Judge Karl Bazin set July 31 as the date where the sentence will be delivered.

Jail time is also in the cards for Rene Langevin, who was arrested for a break and enter with an edged weapon in Stewart Valley in early April.

A joint submission was presented for a third time yesterday, and a six-month jail sentence is part of it.

Bazin is going to review the submission and have a decision for June 27. He said he'd likely accept it.

And Connie Oakes, who's been charged with obstruction of justice, had her bail hearing pushed back to June 27.

She appeared in person yesterday, and the plan is for her to appear again in person for that date.

There's a publication ban on the details in her bail hearing.
