Two communities in southwest Saskatchewan will have improved wireless serviced by the end of March, 2019, according to SaskTel.

In a release the Crown corporation stated that Pennant and Val Marie are two of the seven rural communities that SaskTel is adding to a list that will receive better 4G LTE service.

SaskTel will be "deploying a small cell site solution" to what is now a total of 50 communities.

In a release, Don Morgan - the minister responsible for SaskTel - said the announcement takes the provincial government "one step closer" to their "vision of providing reliable communications services to more rural areas."

SaskTel's Acting President and CEO Doug Burnett said they are on track to finishing the project for the first 50 locations by March 31.
