There's an old saying around here - if you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes... or a few days.

After braving the first cold-snap of the season last weekend, there are plus temperatures in the forecast, some getting as warm as plus 10 for Wednesday.

David Phillips with Environment Canada believes he could have an explanation as to why the temperatures are behaving this way. "At this time of the year the jetstream should be well south of Saskatchewan, over the United States, and we should be plunged into the cold air, But that system doesn't always go and hibernate at this time of the year. It sometimes goes back and forth, and that's clearly what we are seeing."

Phillips adds that this weather "flip flop effect" usually happens in late October or early November, and not late in November. He mentions that this winter is projected to be cold, but a weaker Ill Nina weather pattern will make it shorter, at least in theory.
