The Saskatchewan Party took to social media to criticize the Canadian government after yesterday's ruling by a US district judge that halted construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline.

A tweet by the governing party said the news of the pipeline being blocked is disappointing for western Canadian producers who need market access for energy.

And in the attached video, Saskatchewan Minister of Energy and Resources Bronwyn Eyre said Canada's federal government needs to do more to support pipeline construction.

"A real perfect storm of no pipeline acts, as the federal government of course has killed two pipelines and stalled a thrid one. We just can't get that product to tide water and on top of everything else we're facing a lot of regulatory stacking by the federal government. obvbiously the threat of the carbon tax, but also bill C-69 it makes it harder for those 34,000 direct and indirect jobs in this province, it makes it harder for those people to get back on their feet. If that differential were to continue for an entire year it would mean a $7.4 billion impact on the sector and a $500 million impact on our royalities here in Saskatchewan."

Judge Brian Morris in Montana ruled that more time is needed to gauge the environmental impact of the pipeline.

The pipeline would send crude from Alberta and Montana to Nebraska, and part of it would run through southwest Saskatchewan.
