The Town of Shaunavon will be increasing utility rates.

Earlier this year when the Town passed it's 2019 Budget, they announced a 2% increase.

The increase happens every year in October. Chief Administrative Officer, Tara Fritz, explains this year's increase. "We take into account the cost of living increase, as well as we've had some infrastructure programs that have went on this year. We replaced some hydrants and did a hydrant study as well. And we have done water main swabbing and we've cleaned the reservoir, and we've had some valve repairs which we had to do as well."

The quarterly bills will increase from $169.00 to $171.70 and only the water and sewer portions of the bill will be increasing.

The increase goes into effect October 1.
