Warm weather could be coming our way this spring

Are we going to get punished for a warm winter with a cold spring and summer?

Not according to David Phillips of Environment Canada.

"We're looking at normal to warmer than normal conditions (for spring)," said Phillips. "Unfortunately we're calling for drier than normal. Clearly farmers are wishing for more precipitation because they've had so little in the winter."

That trend should continue into June, July and August.

"We're also calling for the summer to be a warmer than normal summer," Phillips said. "It will be the precipitation that will decide if this is a good news or bad news situation."

Phillips hopes for the sake of farmers that their prediction of a dry spring and summer isn't entirely accurate.
