It's about to start feeling more like spring in the southwest with warmer weather beginning today.

Double-digit temperatures highs will make their way into the Swift Current area, and it looks like they will be here to stay until next week at least.

Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment Canada Natalie Hasell said with the wind changing from the northwest to south will be a big reason behind the temperatures rising.

"An area of high-pressure will be forming over you again," she said. "Our temperatures in southern Saskatchewan look very encouraging."

According to Environment Canada temperatures in the region starting on today will reach the mid-teens for the remainder of the week.

Friday night into Saturday the area could be hit with some rain as a low-pressure system from Alberta is expected to pass by the southwest.

"I don't know how much at this point," Hasell said. "It doesn't look like very substantial amounts, but it's also a little far forecast-wise to really say that far in advance how much precipitation we are likely to get."

Thursday is set to be the warmest day at 17 C.
