If you've walked through Riverside Park, you might have noticed that the water levels in the Swift Current Creek have been rising, but it looks like the levels won't be getting much higher.

Deputy Fire Chief with the City of Swift Current Peter L'Heureux says that they are not too concerned with the water levels at this moment.

"What we are hearing from the watershed authority is pretty standard news as far as we are concerned for spring runoff," he said. "They're filling dams and reservoirs and then they put water downstream so right now we are seeing kind of the height of that."

L'Heureux says that the cold weather has helped slow down the water levels from rising too quickly.

"This cold weather we are getting is slowing things down and letting some of the water flow through which should certainly help and slow down the runoff, so I think all and all we are looking to be in okay shape," he said. "I know we've got some high water levels. I know we have some of the pathway and some minor infrastructure that is submerged in some water but from my understanding is unless we see some significant changes in the water level or what's coming downstream, we don't have any major concerns right now that doesn't mean things can't change."

Flooding in one area of Riverside Park and the path in Riverside Park is flooded.

He says that what the creek currently sits at, might be high for the water levels.

"What we are seeing coming downstream and the weather that we are having is that we are hoping that we are at our high water mark and that for the most part what we are going to see is that the levels are going to start to recede from here."

L'Heureux adds that unless there are some significant changes, they don't have any major concerns with the water level.
