Another broken pipe in a flurry of winter-time water main breaks has occurred, this time in the community of Gull Lake where water is draining faster than it can be replenished.

Stemming from this, a precautionary boil water advisory is in effect, put in place by the Water Security Agency.

Gull Lake Mayor Blake Campbell said they've been looking for the leak for two days now, but haven't had any luck in locating the likely large leak.

"Right now the town crew is trying to isolate the section of town where the leak is, by shutting off certain sections of the town [water supply] one at a time," he explained.

The town's mayor said that residents also had not spotted anything, though if they do, they should report it.

"Everybody's been out looking for the leak - town guys, we've had even some other people, we've asked residents as well to check their basements and vacant property that might be next to them, and to report any surface water they might see."

The drain in water has even forced the town to shut off water lines from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. in order to maintain safe levels of water in case of emergencies such as fires. That is expected to occur once again tomorrow night, depending on if they are able to find the leak.

Campbell said that the town's water reserve is losing water at a rate of over 130 gallons per minute - the rate at which the Gull Lakes water treatment plant can treat it.

The town's mayor urged residents to conserve their water until the issue is resolved.
