City crews at work

After a sudden outage this morning, water services in parts of Swift Current are starting to be restored.
 
Unforseen problems with a planned shutdown of the 6th Ave NE booster station for a water main tie-in led to homes and businesses in the northeast part of the city losing their water for much of the morning.

"It wasn't anticipated that anyone would be out of water," City Planning and Engineering Services Manager Trevor Feicht told us this morning. "We expected that there could be some pressure drops, but they had some troubles with some of the old valves out there, so they had to go further out than expected and close some other valves. They're working hard to get the old valves working."

Feicht says some of the affected areas are now coming back online, and adds there may be some intermittent outages through the day while crews determine which valves are working, but they're hopeful that they can have those issues resolved by the end of today.
