A significant lump of money is going to the Village of Waldeck for infrastructure upgrades related to their water delivery and waste water management.

Waldeck was one of 46 municipalities in rural areas in Saskatchewan that are receiving a portion of a $26.9-million joint program involving all three levels of government.

In Saskatoon Tuesday it was announced that $375,000 is going to Waldeck, as part of a partnership between the Village, provincial government, and federal government.

Federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities François-Philippe Champagne made the announcement with Liberal MP Ralph Goodale and Saskatchewan Government Relations Minister Warren Kaeding in Saskatoon on Tuesday, and Waldeck Mayor Glenn Alexander said it's huge for the municipality.

"Waldeck is need of some very important infrastructure upgrades, specifically with respect to our water delivery and waste water management. This program is key for small population bases like ours to being able to meet our legislative responsibilities for our constituents."

Alexander is also program director for Golden West Radio in Swift Current, under the name Glenn Charles.
