TM36 total

The final total for Telemiracle 36 is displayed as the telethon ended Sunday afternoon.

It was likely one of those weekends that made you even prouder to be from Saskatchewan.

Telemiracle 36 raised a record $5,906,229 as the 20-hour telethon wrapped up in Regina Sunday at 5:00pm, and every penny of that goes to help people with special needs in our province.

The total was boosted by the amazing generosity of the late Roy Wudrick, who bequeathed $1.4 million, and the annoucement of which stunned everyone at the Conexus Arts Centre, and no doubt all of Saskatchewan. Major contributions from corporations like PotashCorp and Viterra, and pledges from ordinary residents and organizations made this year's Telemiracle a phenomenal success.

The southwest also showed their generosity, with the Swift Current Kinsmen and Kinettes presenting a cheque for over $18,151 from their fundraising efforts in the city, and a large contingent from the clubs was on hand to help volunteer at the show. Swift Current's Central School performed at the show, and presented over $2500 in donations.

The challenge is now making that total even higher next year, when Telemiracle 37 takes place in Saskatoon.
