Long weekends and nice weather don't always coincide, but luckily for the people of southwest Saskatchewan they seem likely to this Victoria Day weekend.

John Paul Cragg, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, says that Swift Current and area can expect clear and sunny skies.

"With the clear skies moving in and no precipitation in the forecast, it looks like it will be a little cooler than what you're experiencing," he said. "Still warmer than average for this time of year. It looks like a very nice long weekend if you enjoy the sun and warmer temperatures."

As for after the long weekend, Cragg says that we can expect things to continue to warm up.

"The ridge of high pressure looks like it will re-establish itself and by mid-way, through next week we could be looking at temperatures in the 30s again."

This weekend temperatures are supposed to hit in the low to high 20s . To view the full five-day weather forecast click here.
