A two-year court case involving a serial bank robber has come to a close.

29-year-old Shaun Christopher Cornish was sentenced to seven years in jail, minus three years for remanded time earlier this month in the British Columbia Supreme Court in Kamloops, B.C. He was also ordered to provide a DNA sample and was given a lifetime firearms prohibition.

Cornish's sentencing stems from nine robberies at banks across Western Canada, including a robbery at the RBC Branch in Swift Current on January 8th, 2015.

The former Langley, B.C. resident admitted to using a fake gun during eight of his nine bank robberies.

He was arrested on January 30th, 2015 at a motel in Grande Prairie, Alberta and was held in prison until his sentencing commenced on March 1, 2017.

The bank robbing spree ran from December 19, 2014, to January 28, 2015, jumping between three western provinces holding up banks in Princeton, B.C. Vernon, B.C., High River, Alta., Swift Current, Sask., Lethbridge, Alta., Claresholm, Alta., Merritt, B.C., Langley, B.C., and Dawson Creek, B.C.
