The SaskPower Windscape Kite Festival  was recently honoured by Tourism Saskatchewan with a prestigious prize.

Shann Gowan accepted the Award of Excellence for the Marquis Event for Saskatchewan in 2014.  Now in it's eleventh year, Windscape attracts flyers from around the world.

"The guys from Germany are bringing kites bigger than houses," said organizer Shann Gowan. "The guys from England do all sorts of things with their quad kites and the fellow from the Phillipines is bringing a collection of Asian kites."

The popular free festival happens on June 20 and 21, and coincides with the Long Day's Night Music Festival. To make Windscape another success this year, Gowan said she needs volunteers.

"The volunteers are the ones who make this festival special," Gowan said. "They're the ones that help us make Swift Current look really good."
