Old Man Winter is back from his sabbatical, and is making his presence known.

After being treated to unseasonable warmth for the last few weeks, some more fresh snow made its way to the southwest yesterday, and more is expected today with strong wind gusts up to 80km/h blowing that snow around, reducing visibility at times.

Most highways in the southwest, including the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 4 north of Swift Current, are reporting loose and drifting snow and icy sections. Make sure to check the Highway Hotline before heading out today by calling 1-888-335-7623, or click the Road Report Link on SwiftCurrentOnline.com.

As for the temperature, it will drop this afternoon and stay in the -20s for much of the coming week, with wind chill factors making it feel much colder.
