It was a busy day on Saturday in Gull Lake as they held their annual Winterfest.

The event was started back in 2013 as a way to celebrate family, the community, winter and to give something for families to do during the long weekend.

Mayor Blake Campbell says that he was pleased to see all the people that stopped by.

"I was really happy with the day and turnout," he said. "The vendors at the trade show, I think they did very well, and all the kid's events went well, and the fireworks were great."

Campbell says that every year, Winterfest seems to keep getting bigger.

"We have seen the event grow over the years and we are getting more and more people coming out," he said. "Hopefully we are going to be able to tweak it a little bit and add on some new stuff for next year."

The day started off with a pancake breakfast and rest of Winterfest featured something for everyone.

There was street hockey for the hockey fans, a mini trade show for those who like to shop, and plenty of events for the kids, as they had crafts and face painting, sleigh rides, mini golf, and children's entertainer Danny Kazam performed.

The day closed out with a beef on a bun supper and then a bonfire and smores for dessert before the day was ended with some fireworks.

Campell adds that looking forward to next year he is hoping that they get some ice sculpting for the kids as they just missed out on it this year.
