C-F-L Legend Mike "Pinball" Clemons was in town this past year serving as the guest speaker at the Swift Current Indians Field of Dreams banquet at the Legion Hall.

Pinball played for 12 seasons with the Toronto Argonauts, and coached the team for eight more years, winning four Grey Cups overall.

At the banquet he spoke about the importance of sport in our culture.

“Just a message of support. Sport is so important and so vibrant in our community’s right across the country; it’s such a big part of our culture. I am a big baseball fan so one thing is to just be there and celebrate sport and celebrate these young men and what they’re doing and the second thing is just to embrace the city of Swift Current and just say were happy to be there.”

Pinball won four Grey Cups with the Toronto Argonauts, but said his favourite memory was winning his first championship as a coach in 2008.

Clemons also reflected on his hall of fame career, saying his favourite memory was winning his first championship as a coach in 2004.

“I won it three times and as a player it is a total out of body, euphoric experience your pouring perfectly good beverage all over one another. So that was as a player, it’s fun and nonsensical but as a coach in one victory I won forty times cause I won for every guy on that team. It’s a totally different experience.”
