It was announced recently that P3A Architecture was the recipient of the 2013 Award of Excellence in the Premier’s Awards of Excellence in Design-Interior Design Category. P3A won this award for their interior design of the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame which is located at the upper parking level of the Credit Union iPlex in Swift Current.
Jerrod Schafer, Co-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame was ecstatic with the news. “P3 Architecture did a tremendous job on the design and the final product is a facility that our community and province should be really proud of! They deserve this award and a great deal of credit for a beautiful design.”
The Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame was established in 2012 and has been viewed by over 3,000 people during its first year of operation. The stunning Wall of Fame where all inductees of the Sask. Hockey Hall of Fame have their plaques permanently installed along with the amazing hockey stick chandelier are the cornerstones of the Saskatchewan’s Hockey Hall of Fame.
Memorabilia from the inductees is on display year round and is highlighted by the current year’s inductees. The displays are changed each year so the Sask. Hockey Hall of Fame is worth visiting time after time as the displays are constantly changing.
Displays were updated to include new inductees this past summer and the board and staff have some exciting plans for the Hall of Fame to make it more fun and interactive in the coming months.
The Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame is open year-round from Tuesday through Saturday from 1 pm to 5 pm (1 pm to 4 pm and 6-7 pm on Bronco game days) or by appointment. Admission is by donation only and the SHHoF is available for rent by private groups for meetings or social gatherings.
The Magic Morning Show spoke to George Bowdtich, the curator of the Hall, about this honour.
