Remembrance Day is next Saturday, and we are hoping that you will take time that day to think about all those who sacrificed their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy today.

The City of Swift Current recently painted poppies on crosswalks along 1st Ave NE at Memorial Park and the Royal Canadian Legion Hall as a tribute to our veterans, and the Swift Current Museum installed a collection of Remembrance Day banners in Memorial Park featuring the names and photos of local soldiers.

Remembrance Day poppies are now widely available, and there have been some people wondering how they can display their poppies in a respectful manner. Kathy Jennings talked with Andy Keys from Royal Canadian Legion Branch #56 in Swift Current about the proper ways to wear a poppy.

There will be a number of Remembrance Day events in Swift Current, including services at Memorial Park and the Comp High School Cafetorium, and a special event next Saturday night at the Legion Hall featuring Rosie and the Riveters.
