It's almost like a secondary "Canada Day" today, with Team Canada facing the Americans in afternoon play today at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships!

Watch the game at 3pm local time live from Montreal on TSN 1/4/5.

Tri-City Americans goalie Eric Comrie (ex brother in law of Hilary Duff... seriously) is getting the start in nets for the Canadians.

The big matchup everyone has been talking about these days is Connor McDavid (team Canada, pundits call him "The Next One"... meaning, the next Gretzky) versus the USA's Jack Eichel. Either one of these elite junior hockey players could be picked in the #1 spot in the 2015 NHL draft in June... and what's even more interesting, is they haven't been squaring off against each other in CHL action this season, with Eichel suiting up for Boston University and McDavid starring in the OHL with the Erie Otters.

However, there's one guy for Team Canada who will undoubtedly be getting the loudest cheers from southwest SK... and that's 19 year old Broncos defenseman, Dillon Heatherington.

Heatherington, technically in his 5th season with the Broncos (having laced up for 1 game with the team in 2010-2011), has been a steady and quiet defender for Team Canada so far in this World Junior Tournament.

This isn't a surprise to Swift Current fans - or the Columbus Blue Jackets, who drafted Heatherington 50th overall in the 2nd round of the 2013 NHL Draft.

So - on this, "unofficial Canada Day", we cheer LOUD and PROUD for Team Canada and Dillon Heatherington!
