The end of March concluded the public's portion for the Grade 6-9 Class from Val Marie school for their submission to Canada's Coolest Parks Contest. Although the kids felt defeated for not coming in first place they were appreciative of the support they received and learned a few things along the way.
Principal, Angela Clement, was proud of the students for the amazing work they did and ensured the class that top four out of 55 submissions is a big deal in such a small community. The class won an all expenses paid overnight trip to Fort Walsh and are looking forward to that sometime in June.
Today, they invited staff from Grasslands National Park, parents, friends and anyone in the area to attend a Beef on a Bun lunch where there was a short presentation of their journey with the contest and it also allowed the kids to say some thank-you's.
The video is still available for you to view on the contest page and will be a lasting memory for the Val Marie community as well as any future classes looking for ideas for their submissions.
