TGIF! First full work week after the holidays - hope you made it through unscathed!
There is a TON of stuff on the go in the City this weekend... what have you got planned?
If you don't have any plans - head to the Lyric Theatre tonight - their world famous Open Stage event is happening tonight. First one in 2015 - featuring headliners Tombstone Whiskey. If you haven't heard these guys, they play a super acoustic OR plugged in show. Open Stage gets underway at 8, doors open at 7. If you are performing, you get in for free - otherwise, it'll set you back $7.
If hockey is what you want - the Broncos have a 3-in-3 weekend ahead. Tonight the team is in PA to take on the Raiders... tomorrow night, they return to the iPlex vs Everett (game time 7pm). The Broncos are honoring Dillon Heatherington with an autograph & photo session after the game Saturday night - fans will have an opportunity to meet Dillon and congratulate him on his part with Team Canada at the World Juniors.
Sunday afternoon - the fun continues at the iPlex. Puck drop is at 4pm vs the defending Memorial Cup champs, the Edmonton Oil Kings.
If you're a curling fan, the Viterra Southern Women's Playdowns, featuring 13 of the best lady curling rinks in the Southwest gets underway tonight at the iPlex. (Parking this weekend at the venue could be crowded!) $10/day to get into the curling rink, and there's a cabaret and celebration tomorrow night to honor the Max Kirkpatrick rink who won the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in North Bay, ON, in November.
So - there's no excuse to not take in some of these awesome events. Get out, get involved, and cheer on your hometown heroes!
Happy weekending!
