Over the weekend, more than 150 community members and 20 volunteers came out to support SaskAbilities’ 35th annual Ability Bowl.

The Social Bowl hosted the day-long flagship fundraiser this past Saturday where teams of bowlers could win prizes, enter a 50/50 draw, and raise funds for a great cause.

Top teams included 'The A Team', raising $5,270, 'Team Sarcan', bringing in $4,126.95, 'Barnyard bowlers', and 'City Slickers'. The top fundraisers were Dwight Larter who raised $3,756.95, Avery Andres, Gracie McCrea, and Jarrod Schellenberg.

Jenny Dyck, the community relations coordinator with SaskAbilities Swift Current Branch, was thrilled to see the excitement and engagement from those who attended.

“Today is just a great day of bowling, lots of community members,” she said. “Lots of support fundraising for youth recreational programs offered by SaskAbilities.”

The organization set a fundraising goal of $85,000 which they were well on their way to. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help fund SaskAbilities’ programs including Camp Easter Seal, Summer Fun, and the Social Leisure Youth Program.

“All three of those programs are offered to individuals experiencing disability, specifically youth experiencing disability,” said Dyck. “It’s getting people out in the community recreational and cultural experiences and it’s about inclusion.

“We‘re just really grateful for all of the community support, our sponsors, community partners, and everyone who’s been out raising funds for SaskAbilities, we can’t thank the community enough.”
