It was a bittersweet weekend for the Range Line Tavern in Cadillac, as one final concert marked the transition from one owner to another.

Linda Sherwick owned and ran the small town institution for 16 years, and credits the support from the town for allowing her to be successful for as long as she was.

"It was an excellent part of my life. The community here is awesome and I had support from just about everybody and I was able to stay open and do well."

The final night, which saw a Saturday concert that included Cadillac, Old Sols and Nick Gauvin, saw around 160 guests come by to bid their farewell to the outgoing tavern, which will be taking on a new name as the new owners from Oregon move into the space and make it their own.

For Sherwick, it was like a going-away party, and while she's too humble to feel as though she was "important" in the community, she felt that having that many people show up to say goodbye was a nice tribute to her time in it.

"When you do a show there's a lot of money that you can make and most of that money went to the rec board in Cadillac and the hall board. So that money went out all over in the community. We donated to the elevator in Val Marie. We had a lot of support from Val Marie people."

It's the kind of support that can only come from a small town, and it's the kind of support that she hopes the new owners are able to garner as well, and they plan their changes; like adding a pizza oven and other renovations.

As for Sherwick herself, she isn't *quite* retiring. She'll still be planning shows and events around the region.

She's even taking the Range Line name with her, rebranding the tavern's Facebook page to Range Line Music and continuing to fill her time with that aspect of her career while no longer having the daily grind of tavern ownership.
