One of Swift Current's star minor baseball players spent the past weekend soaking up the sun and raking in RBIs in Arizona.

Midget AAA 57's standout Brody Alexandre was in Phoenix from January 18-21 for the 2019 Perfect Game West MLK Championship.

The 16-year-old has spent his current school year in Saskatoon at the Baseball Sask Academy, and clearly the extra swings and reps are paying off.

Playing with the Milwaukee Brewers Scout Team - Canada 16U, Alexandre and the Canadian club played five games over the extended weekend, working a 4-1 record:

Win: 11-0 vs. Prospects National Team
Win: 9-3 vs. Elite National Team 2020
Win: 12-2 vs. CCB
Win: 3-2 vs. Pacific Northwest Regional Baseball Underclass Nav
Loss: 4-3 vs. Dykstra Baseball 2021

Alexandre's bat didn't have time to cool off in the desert climate, as he finished the tournament hitting .667 with two runs, two doubles, one homerun, eight RBI and three stolen bases.

The third-baseman's homer, and best game, came in their 3-2 win over Pacific Northwest. He went 3-for-3, while batting third in the lineup, capped off by a walk-off blast dead into the wind in right field.

Alexandre will be back in the southwest from the Baseball Sask Academy in time for spring, and another season of Midget AAA ball.

With the 57's in the 2018 summer season, Alexandre posted an impressive .413 average, 31 RBI, nine doubles, three triples, and 14 walks in 26 games.
